Svern is a male polar bear who is Svenna's mate and father of cubs, Stellan and Jytte. His mate Svenna is captured in the great ice clock. When he met his cubs Stellen and Jytte he was hurt badly but then they helped him up and teached them lessons of fighting
Description[]
Svern was described by Stellan in The Den of Forever Frost as, “..a grotesque, staggering wreckage of a bear — earless, with old blood and dirt stuck to his fur, and missing three claws on one paw.” and later described with the top of his head being mutilated, “Black skin bubbled up where ears had been.” and thin.
Life History[]
The Quest of the Cubs[]
Svern is not mentioned in this book, but there are many references to him, as Jytte wishes to meet their Da, and they (Stellan, Jytte, and Third) has a quest to find him to destroy the clock.
The Den of Forever Frost[]
In here, the cubs (Stellan, Jytte, Third, and Froya) finds Svern in a bad condition, and Svern was not very welcoming, but soon, he accepted that the cubs were his duty and taught them different weapons and lessons to prepare going into the Den of Forever Frost. Sadly, he didn't go in with them for he encountered Dark Fang. He made a false trail away from his den, so that Dark Fang would follow him and hoped that the cubs would leave without him.
The Keepers of the Keys []
The cubs travel with Svern to the great Ga'hoole tree to the owls, and then go to the Beyond to recruit an army of wolves and owls alike.
